THE SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP

a memorial tribute for Lucile Myers

Once there was a woman named Lucile Myers...

She died at 94 years old, and had two loves: people and music. Since her passing her family has been searching for ways to appropriately honor the spirit of her life, and they believe they’ve found one way through gifting scholarships to students that want to participate in Digital Clarinet Academy's offerings. Lucile’s daughter, Suzanne Nash, wrote: “DCA has a breadth and depth that encompass many positive attributes comprising Lucile’s life; a strong musical backbone in a collaborative, critically supportive environment.” Just. Wow!

Suzanne Nash and Dennis Watson are pleased to offer this Spirit of Community Scholarship as a memorial tribute for Lucile Myers and are thrilled to help a bass clarinetist achieve their dream. We are honored and incredibly thankful that we can share this opportunity with all of you.

ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP

The Spirit of Community Scholarship has given an annual membership to our Thrive program and a tuition package to the Bass Clarinet Master Course. Scholarship are given to a selected applicants that are pursuing a music career and demonstrate to us how they incorporate the “Spirit of Community” in their lives and through their music.

The recipient will be required to participate in up to six community interactions, chosen and coordinated by the scholarship committee, throughout the year. These community outreach events may include talking with youth and seniors about their personal musical journeys, and/or virtual/live solo or group performances.

  1. A summary of your education and musical accomplishments to date.
  2. Why you want to participate in the Bass Clarinet Master Course/Thrive.
  3. A recording of 2 contrasting pieces or excerpts, not exceeding 5 minutes via unlisted YouTube video, Vimeo, etc.
