Ben Freimuth Bio

  

Ben Freimuth was the Acting Associate Principal and E-flat Clarinet of the Cincinnati Symphony from 2011-2020. Before performing with the CSO, Ben was the Bass Clarinetist of the San Francisco Symphony from 2003-2010 and Principal Clarinet of the Kansas City Symphony from 2001-2003.

Ben has performed as the featured soloist with the Kansas City Symphony and the Sun Valley Summer Symphony. Ben has also been a guest artist with the New York Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra, Boston Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony, and the St. Louis Symphony.

Ben has served as Adjunct Clarinet faculty at the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Ohio State University, Miami University (Ohio), the San Francisco Conservatory, and the University of Missouri Kansas City. He has done guest teaching at the Manhattan School, New England Conservatory, Ball State University, University of Evansville, Baldwin Wallace College, Shanghai Conservatory, University of Houston, and the University of Memphis.

Ben has been a member of the Sun Valley Summer Symphony since 2005. He has also performed with the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Brevard Music Festival, Chautauqua Music Festival, and the Santa Fe Opera. Ben received his Master of Music degree from Rice University studying with David Peck and his Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with Linnea Neriem.
